New Women's Club Gives Monterey a Wet One
Club 2Lips begins September 29 at the After Dark nightclub at 214 Lighthouse
Ave. in Monterey (see cover story) The women's club will feature DJ Sistah
A.D. spinning hip-hop and house music, "erotic dancers." and go-go
grrrls.

Bears Celebrate Club's Second Anniversary
The Monterey Bay Bears will celebrate their club's second anniversary
on October 3, 1998 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Oak Grove area of Toro Park
off of Hwy. 68 near Salinas.
Hamburgers or hot-dogs, chips, soda or beer will be served for $5. (No

Community Building Workshops in October
The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) is sponsoring a Building
Community Workshop for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, and "heterosexual
allies" on Saturday, October 3.
The all-day workshop will focus on helping people deal with feelings
of oppression and give them tools to deal with homophobia in their daily
lives.
Suggested donation for the course is $75-15 on a sliding scale. The workshop
will be held at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, 490 Aguajito Rd. in Carmel.
Bagels and refreshments will be provided, but bring your own lunch. For

PFLAG Launches Website
The local chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
has launched its own website at www.jps.net/monpflag/.
The PFLAG website offers information about the group, including local
meeting times, as well as a resource guide for publications, books, and
videos to help those coping with coming out.
Local AIDS Group Seeks Housing Volunteers
Habitat for Humanity and John XXIII AIDS Ministry are seeking volunteers
to work on a housing project in Salinas September 26 and October 3.
The project involves replacing the windows on Casa Esperanza, a housing
project for very-low income people who are HIV+. For more information, contact

Gay Movie Nights Get Big
Gay Movie Night offers locals a chance to watch gay-themed movies in
a zero-attitude environment. Past offerings include "The Ritz,"
"Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," and "Priest."
The program, sponsored by the Man-2-Man Project of the Monterey County
AIDS Project, is open to everyone in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
communities. The free events are drawing between 20-30 people, and snacks
are served.
Monterey movie night are the first and third Wednesdays of the month
from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Salinas movie nights are the second and fourth Tuesdays
from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
